Explanation:
The City of Hollywood will be having a General Election to be held on November 8, 2016. The terms of the Mayor and the even-numbered Commissioners from District 2, 4 and 6 expire in November 2016.

The District 1 Commissioner Patricia Asseff has resigned her seat to run for Mayor.

Section 3.02(c) of the Charter states "...If any vacancy shall occur in the office of city commissioner, except a vacancy caused by resignation after a recall petition has been filed, and more than one (1) year of the term of the former city commissioner shall remain at the time the vacancy occurs, a special election shall be called within not less than ninety (90) or more than one hundred twenty (120) days to fill such vacancy, or at the next general or municipal election if one is to be held within that period."

The Broward County Supervisor of Elections has informed the City that the Special Election will have to be held in conjunction with the General Election on November 8, 2016.

The City of Hollywood will be therefore having a Special Election to be held on November 8, 2016, to fill the unexpired term for District 1 Commissioner.

That the Mayor will be elected for a four (4) year term, and the even-numbered Commissioners from District 2, 4 and 6 for a four (4) year term.

That the candidate elected to the office of District 1 Commissioner will fill the unexpired term until November 2018.

The City Clerk shall be authorized and directed to place upon the ballot to be used at such general and special election to be held on November 8, 2016, the names of all candidates properly qualifying. The funding for the elections are...
