Explanation:

On December 8, 2015 the Broward County Commission passed a Motion to Direct the Office of the County Attorney to draft an Ordinance amending Chapter 5, Article IX, of the Broward County Code of Ordinances, relating to the Land Development Code, to establish an Attainable Housing Linkage Fee to be assessed on new nonresidential development to support construction, rehabilitation, and/or maintenance of attainable residential units.  County staff suggested a fee of $1.00 per square foot, across all building types, to be assessed on any new nonresidential development in Broward County.

Henry Sniezek, Deputy Director of Broward County’s Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department will make a brief presentation on the proposed fee.
