Explanation:

The State of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing a road way improvement project to the State Road 7/US441 between Fillmore Street and Stirling Road.

The Department of Public Utilities staff designed the Water and Sewer Improvement - Phase II project, between Fillmore Street and Stirling Road, to install sewage collection piping along the US441 corridor and to implement necessary upgrades to the existing water distribution piping.

The City and FDOT executed the Utility Work by Highway Contractor Agreement which combines FDOT road work and City’s water and sewer piping improvement work as a joint project.

The City needs to construct two lift stations as a separate project, one lift station in the vicinity of the intersection of US441 and Buchanan Street and another lift station in the vicinity of the intersection of US441 and Farragut Street, to serve the City’s gravity sewer system along the US441 corridor.

FDOT is willing to convey a portion of its right of way to the City at no cost, via the attached two (2) Quit Claim Deeds, attached hereto as Exhibit “A”, to accommodate the construction of the two lift stations to serve the new sewer system.

The City Commission has determined that the attached two (2) Quit Claim Deeds may be considered in the best interest of the citizens of Hollywood.
