Explanation:
The Water Treatment Plant Division of the Public Utilities Department requires the purchase of pebble (rice) size quicklime used in the treatment process of the spiractor water softening plant.

The required pebble (rice) size quicklime had been competitively bid by the Southeast Florida Governmental Cooperative Purchasing Group in which the City of Hollywood is an active participant, with the City Tamarac, Florida as the lead agency, their Bid Number 11-25B.

On October 19, 2011, the City Commission passed and adopted R-2011-270, authorizing the issuance of a blanket purchase order to Carmeuse Lime and Stone, Inc. in accordance with bid number 11-25B, for a three (3) year period with the option to renew for three (3) additional one (1) year periods.

On October 15, 2014, the City Commission passed and adopted R-2014-310, authorizing the option to renew for the first one (1) year period.

Pursuant to Section 38.46 of the Purchasing Ordinance of the City of Hollywood, the Director of Procurement Services shall have the authority to join with other governmental entities in cooperative purchasing plans when the best interests of the City would be served thereby.

The Director of Public Utilities Department and the Director of Procurement Services recommend that the City Commission approve the issuance of the attached Blanket Purchase Order for the purchase of pebble (rice) size quicklime to Lhoist North America of Alabama LLC of Mulberry, Florida, for the second one (1) year renewal term with the option to renew for one (1) ...
