Staff Recommends: Approval of Attached Resolution.

Explanation:

There have been flooding issues in the Lakes neighborhood and the street lighting on Harrison Street has been periodically going out.  Public Works staff determined that the problem is that some of the underground wiring between the poles is spliced.  The only way to resolve the problem is to rewire all of the light fixtures along Harrison Street from 17th Avenue east to the Intracoastal so that all the splices are up in the base of the light fixture.  The construction documents were prepared by a consultant and the Notice to Bidders was issued online via BidSync on July 7, 2015.  The consultant estimated the cost of the work to be about $140,000.00 depending on the fluctuating cost of copper. The construction documents were viewed by thirty-six (36) vendors and eight (8) vendors downloaded the Project Manual and drawings. One (1) bid was received and publicly opened on July 28, 2015.  The responsive bid is shown on the attached Bid Tabulation Sheet.  City staff found the bid submitted by Imperial Electrical, Inc., to be responsive and responsible, and recommend the award of this Contract in the amount of $98,000.00. This project was approved in the FY 2014 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and funding is available in account no. 34.5114.14433.541.006301.
