Staff Recommends: Approval of the Attached Resolution


Explanation:
Pursuant to Chapter 151.134 and Chapter 151.135, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution R-2011-206, which established a plan processing fee schedule for building permits and a permit fee schedule for building permits under Resolution R-2002-021.

As part of the Department of Public Works' revenue enhancement review, staff examined the permit plans processing fee schedule and found that, although processing fees for the four building disciplines (structural, electric, mechanical, plumbing) are being collected, plans processing fees commensurate with the services provided for landscaping plan reviews and maintenance of traffic plan reviews are not being imposed.

The Public Works Department's Engineering and Architectural Services Division is proposing to impose a fee for plans processing and permit inspection relating to landscape plans and maintenance of traffic plans to recoup the City's costs being incurred for the services. Staff also collected and reviewed processing and permit fee data from surrounding municipalities and verified the proposed fees were commensurate with local industry. This data has been compiled and summarized in the attached table within the agenda item. The revenues garnered would be directed towards Engineering and Architectural Services' operational budget needs and the new engineering fee schedule would take into effect September 1, 2015. To provide coherence and consistency with the existing City of Hollywood fee structure, Staff recommends fees listed below:
