Explanation:
The Sludge Process Control System at the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (SRWWTP) is a large complex process.

The existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system lacks the necessary level of communication and automation.

Currently the sludge processing control system is controlled manually by City Operations Professionals due to the lack of the necessary level of automation to monitor and control the sludge process.

Department of Public Utilities staff desires to improve the efficiency and productivity of the sludge process control system through an increased level of automation.

The City requested a proposal from Black & Veatch Corporation to provide professional engineering services for the development of automation and SCADA improvements for the optimization of the sludge process control system.

Black & Veatch Corporation will evaluate the control strategy, modify the program of existing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), redesign the database, and standardize SCADA graphics allowing the control of the Sludge Process to be performed automatically or semi-automatically through Human Machine Interface (HMI) in the SRWWTP Main Control Room.
