Explanation:
The Department of Fire Rescue and Beach Safety desires to purchase one (1) 2016 Advance Life Support (ALS) Rescue truck to replace an older unit.

Significant time and resources have been invested by the Fire Department staff into reviewing the purchase of the new Advanced Life Support Rescue.

Staff reviewed several different make and model ALS rescue vehicles.

The 2016 Horton model 623 ambulance on a 2016 Freightliner chassis was determined to meet the needs of the Fire Rescue Department in order to provide the advanced life support services as well as basic life support services for response, transport for standardization and compatibility.

The 2016 Horton model 623 ambulance on a 2016 Freightliner chassis was determined to meet the serviceability requirements of the Fire Rescue Departments fleet, and effective and efficiently allow the departments Fleet Maintenance Division to provide a continuity of service and support to that fleet.

This ALS unit will replace a 2003 Freightliner M2 ALS Rescue unit with an excess of one hundred and eighty thousand (180,000) road miles currently being used as a frontline rescue response vehicle.

Acquiring the 2016 ALS Rescue vehicle will reduce the repair costs and mechanical downtime associated with having the one (1) new ALS Rescue in service.

The Florida Sheriffs Association awarded Bid Number 15-11-0116, titled Fire Rescue/EMS to Hall-Mark Fire Apparatus who was the lowest responsible bidder for the specific category.
