Explanation:

HOME funds are used to expand the supply of decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing, with primary attention given to rental housing for extremely low-income and low-income families.

Because of the overwhelming, critical need for rental subsidies to prevent homelessness within this demographic, the Community Development Division seeks to guard against incidences of homelessness in Hollywood by providing Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (“TBRA”) using various non-profit partners to administer the program.

The City has had a longstanding relationship with Hope South Florida, Inc. to provide TBRA for individuals and households that are low-income and eligible to participate in the program. The agreement expires on September 30, 2023.

This Resolution allows Hope South Florida, Inc. to continue administering TBRA funding in the amount of $777,941.48 to current recipients who were referred by the Broward County Continuum of Care system and the City.

This Resolution is to extend the existing agreement for a period of one year.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this agreement is available in the FY 2023 Capital Improvement Plan in account numbers 115.160201.55400.583230.000225.000.000, 115.160201.55400.583230.000226.000.00, 115.160201.55400.583230.001007.000.000, 115.160201.55400.583230.001328.000.000 and 115.160201.55400.583230.001006.000.000.
