Explanation:
FDOT acquires properties for transportation facilities for the citizens of the State of Florida.
FDOT is permitted by law to convey and lease real property that FDOT no longer needs and determines to be surplus to other public entities to further the public needs of the State of Florida.
It is in the best interest of the citizens of the State of Florida to gain the most benefit from properties acquires with public funds.
The surplus properties are sought for the use of additional park land and are proposed to be leased to the City for the public purpose of creating a greenspace that acts as a passive recreational space between SR A1A to the east and the intra-coastal to the west with amenities such as dog friendly features, park furnishings, shade structures and an art component.
Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this Resolution will not fiscally impact the City at this time. The planned park will be developed and maintained by the Beach CRA until its sunsetting.
