Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the Attached Resolution

Explanation:
The Department of Parking and Intergovernmental Affairs identified a need for the exterior painting of the Radius Parking Garage.

Project specifications for the repainting of the garage building were prepared by City staff and a "Notice to Bidders" was issued on November 25, 2014. The project was electronically advertised via BidSync in accordance with the City's Purchasing Ordinance, Section 38.42 (A). The project specifications were viewed online by fifty-seven (57) vendors and eighteen (18) of them downloaded them. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting was held at the site on December 9, 2014. Three (3) bids were received and publicly opened on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, and the responsive bids are as shown on the attached bid tabulation sheet. Staff finds the bid submitted by Viktor Construction Corp to be lowest responsive and responsible and recommends the award of this contract to Viktor Construction Corp in the amount of $70,700.00. The reason for the "Deduct Alternate #1" is because the Department of Parking and Intergovernmental Affairs is working to contract with an artist to secure a mural for the south elevation and a portion of the west elevation. If that contract falls through then we know in advance what the cost will be for a Change Order to add the final coat of paint in these areas.

This project is being funded through the Parking Enterprise Fund and funding has been set aside in account number 46.1100.14192.545.006301. It is anticipated that the work will start towards the beginning of February 2015 and be complete by the end of March 2015.
