Staff Recommends: Approval of the Attached Resolution
Explanation:
After extensive community outreach, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts identified the need for a new fenced community dog park within Stan Goldman Memorial Park, at the south end of Knights Road. The project scope will include selective tree removal and grading, a new park entrance gate, concrete walkways, paved parking for 15 vehicles, pedestrian safety lighting, signage, park benches and waste bins, separate fenced play areas for small and large dogs, dog drinking fountains, dog play equipment, new landscaping and irrigation. In conjunction with the park improvements, the existing service road from 600 Knights Road south to the park shall be widened and landscaped to create a new park entrance drive.
Drawings and specifications for the new park were prepared by City staff and the project was publicly advertised November 4, 2014. A non-mandatory pre-bid site meeting was held on November 24, 2014 and seven potential bidders attended. Ten (10) bids were received and publicly opened on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, and the responsive bids are as shown on the attached bid tabulation sheet. Staff finds the bid submitted by Anzco, Inc. to be lowest responsive and responsible and recommends the award of this contract to Anzco, Inc. in the amount of $326,817.00.
This project is being funded through Park Impact Fees and funding has been set aside in account number 34.3100.88493.572.006301. It is anticipated that construction will start towards the end of February 2015 and be substantially complete by the end of June 2015.
