Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.
Explanation:
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts ("PRCA") and Department of Design and Construction Management ("DCM") intend to apply for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants Program ("Grant") to fund improvements at Sunset Park.
The Grant program application requires the City to partner with an eligible Community-Based Non-Profit Organization ("CBO"). As a Hollywood non-profit organized to promote public awareness of the significance of natural lands and advocate for the protection and restoration of Hollywood's natural and historical heritage, the Friends of Hollywood, Florida, Inc. qualifies as an eligible CBO.
Staff recommends the City partner with the Friends of Hollywood, Florida, Inc. through a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU"). Under the MOU the City will serve as the Lead Applicant responsible for the overall management, performance, oversight, and reporting responsibilities of the Grant and the Friends of Hollywood, Florida, Inc. will serve as Statutory Partner responsible for assisting the City with community outreach and engagement activities related to the Sunset Park Project.
Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this resolution will have no fiscal impact on the City as this authorizes the City to enter into an MOU with a non-profit organization required to apply for a grant.
