Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:
The attached Resolution seeks City Commission authorization for an expenditure of law enforcement forfeiture funds to purchase one (1) police canine in an amount not to exceed $14,500.00.

The Police Department desires to purchase one (1) police canine to replace a canine that will be retired after providing service to the City of Hollywood Police Department for the last eight (8) years. The funding source for the purchase of this police canine will be law enforcement forfeiture funds and therefore, this expense will incur no cost to the taxpayers of the City of Hollywood. The purchase of police canine is normally not a budgeted expense and has been determined to be a legitimate and permissible law enforcement forfeiture fund expenditure as prescribed by federal guidelines.
