Title
Proclamation In Recognition Of National Arbor Day - April 25, 2014.
Body
Staff Recommends: Presentation of Proclamation.
Explanation:
Arbor Day is a nationally recognized holiday set aside for the celebration of trees in our lives. This year is the thirteenth year anniversary of this tree planting holiday, and we will celebrate National Arbor Day in the City of Hollywood on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in the ArtsPark. The observance of this special holiday promotes widespread interest in, and support of, our efforts to care for and increase our urban forest. Hollywood has been recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City USA for thirty-five consecutive years, and each year we reaffirm our commitment to planting and properly maintaining trees and landscaping.
This year the City of Hollywood, its Public Works Department, and Green Team, will celebrate Arbor Day by planting a Royal Poinciana Tree and shrubs to beautify the ArtsPark.
Barry Faske, Chairman of Hollywood's Green Team Advisory Committee, will be accepting the proclamation.
