Explanation:
City of Hollywood staff submitted a grant application to the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection ("FDEP") for funding through its Resilient Florida Grant Program in the amount of $800,000 to fund the citywide vulnerability assessment update; FDEP awarded the total grant request which has no match requirement. Staff is currently working on the Grant agreement with FDEP.
The City completed a vulnerability assessment for tidal flooding, storm surge, and extreme precipitation in 2020. The parameters used for modeling future flooding differ from those in a new Florida State Statute, F.S. 380.093.
The City has issued a Request for Qualification to secure a consultant to update the vulnerability assessment in order to fully comply with F.S. 380.093 requirements, incorporate its new Stormwater Master Plan, conduct analyses to comply with the Peril of Flood statute section 163.3178(2)(f), and draft corresponding comprehensive plan language.
The City's consultant will then examine the highest-ranked vulnerable critical assets to address their vulnerabilities to future flood hazards and provide an adaptation plan for the most critical assets; detailing how best to reduce or eliminate the vulnerability to flooding for each asset.
