Explanation:
On February 3, 2021, the desired services were competitively bid by the City of Fort Lauderdale pursuant to Bid No. 12376-813, and the current term of the contract is from May 16, 2021 to May 15, 2023, for supplementary assistance to their staff for inspection and plan review services related to Building permits. The City of Fort Lauderdale subsequently entered into an agreement with Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. ("Calvin") and C.A.P. Government, Inc ("CAP"). for these services.
Piggyback (Piggyback Cooperatives) is a form of intergovernmental cooperative purchasing in which an entity will be extended the same pricing and terms of a contract entered by another entity. Generally the originating entity will competitively award a contract that will include language allowing for other entities to utilize the contract, which may be to their advantage in terms of pricing, thereby gaining economies of scale that they would otherwise not receive if they competed on their own.
On April 13, 2021, the City of Fort Lauderdale awarded the bid to multiple vendors, including Calvin and CAP and both Calvin and CAP have agreed to extend to the City of Hollywood the same pricing under the terms and conditions set forth in City of Fort Lauderdale's Bid and contract.
