Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The Police Department applied for $63,000.00 in funding from the Broward Marine Advisory Committee to assist with the removal of derelict vessels. There is no required match for this grant.

The Police Department’s Marine Patrol Division oversees the enforcement of the waterway regulations, including but not limited to issues relating to derelict and abandoned vessels. The City has worked extensively to clean up the City’s waterways of derelict vessels.

Additionally, the Hollywood Police Department's waterway jurisdiction has expanded, leading to increased enforcement efforts against derelict vessels.   This grant funding is imperative for the continued success of this effort.

Fiscal Impact:

If approved, grant funding in the amount of $63,000.00 will be appropriated in the FY 2026 Operating Budget of the Police Grants Fund (Fund 113) as detailed in Exhibit 1.
