Explanation:
On July 3, 2024, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2024-251, which approved the Five-Year Consolidated Plan for Federal Program Years 2024/2025-2028/2029 and Annual Action Plan and Projected Use of Funds for Federal Program Year 2024/2025 that includes the eligible activities under Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds, which include Public Facilities and Infrastructure.
As part of the approved Annual Action Plan, the City allocated $250,000.00 in CDBG funding to the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County, Inc. ("BGCBC") to support the renovation and expansion of the Marti Huizenga Boys & Girls Club, including the development of a teen center located at 1111 North 69th Way in the Boulevard Heights neighborhood.
BGCBG serves as an important community resource, providing youth with educational, recreational, and enrichment opportunities in a safe and supportive environment. The teen center will expand programming capacity and enhance services available to youth residing in the surrounding low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.
