Explanation:

The purpose of the FY 2021 Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program to Support Law Enforcement Agencies Grant is to fund the purchase of body-worn cameras. Law enforcement agencies across the country and worldwide are using body-worn cameras as a promising tool to improve law enforcement interactions with the public.

Fiscal Impact:

If awarded, grant funding in the amount of $650,000.00 will be appropriated in the FY 2022 budget on a future budget amendment.  The required in-kind match requirement of $650,288.00 will be met with personnel services that are currently included in the FY 2022 operating budget and will be requested in subsequent years.  This grant application is an additional resource that can be drawn on if proposed legislative appropriation does not become available.
