Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The fire engine assigned to Fire Station 31 needs replacement. This apparatus is used to respond to structure fires and respond to medical emergencies. This fire engine was manufactured in 2017, has a mileage of 105,179, and 9,222 engine hours.

After consulting with the Fire Rescue Fleet Superintendent, replacement was recommended due to the manufacture date and existing miles. As a fire engine ages, it decreases in availability due to repairs and maintenance. Additionally, replacing the fire engine will enable Fire Rescue to have a better option in a spare fire engine since the existing spare fire engines were manufactured in 1998, 2000, and 2004.

The manufacturing lead time is approximately three (3) years. Since three additional engines will be purchased in the future, it would be best to purchase one each year, beginning with Fiscal Year 26 through Fiscal Year 28.  By staggering the purchases, it will alleviate the financial burden of purchasing these apparatuses at the same time.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this Purchase Order was included in the amended FY 2025 Capital Improvement Plan and is available in account number 335.219901.52200.564520.001263.000.000.
