Explanation:
The City's Pavement Management Study was completed in January 2014 which provided a comprehensive review of the condition of our citywide roadways and alleys. In December of 2013, the results of the Study were presented to the City Commission at in a Workshop setting. The study was used in developing a roadway and alley rehabilitation and resurfacing program based on need together with the coordination with the Department of Public Utility's robust water and sewer rehabilitation program that is taking place. Public Works is responsible for implementing the rehabilitation and resurfacing outside of the Public Utility project areas. Thus far, a total of $1.4 million has been allocated for the Street Resurfacing Program and $1.2 million for the Alley Reconstruction Program through debt financing and Sanitation Enterprise funds. The debt finance portion of the funding for the two Programs was made available to spend and the borrowing allocation approved via the action taken by the City Commission on December 17, 2014 under Resolution R-2014-374. The Sanitation enterprise funding was fully authorized for spending on December 3, 2014 via Commission action taken under Resolution R-2014-356. Since then, Public Works finalized the bid documents and publicly advertised the Street Resurfacing project for bid opening on February 10, 2015. The project scope includes 12.5 miles of citywide street resurfacing. For the Alley Program, Public Works has an agenda item on the February 4, 2015 City Commission meeting for contracting surveying services for 29 alley locations which are necessary to complete the in-house design of the alley construction project.
