Explanation:
The Police Department has been approved as a participating agency in the Money Laundering Task Force (“MLTF”) with the Broward Sheriff’s Office and other participating law enforcement agencies. The mission of the MLTF is to identify and target for prosecution individuals and/or organizations involved in money laundering activity and enhance the effectiveness of federal, state and local law enforcement resources through a well-coordinated initiative seeking the most effective investigative and prosecute avenues by which to convict and incarcerate dangerous offender. The participating agencies entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”), in order to formalize the relationships between the participating agencies in order to foster an efficient and cohesive unit capable of addressing money laundering activities within South Florida.
