Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities ("Department") owns, operates, and maintains the water distribution and sewer collection system infrastructure within the City's service area and is responsible for repairs and improvements to both systems. Pipes and other components of these systems may require unanticipated urgent or emergency repair or replacement to protect public health and safety.
On November 2, 2022, pursuant to Resolution No. R-2022-337, the City Commission authorized the execution of a unit price contract with Southeastern Engineering Contractors, Inc. ("SEC") and Ric-Man International, Inc. ("Ric-Man"), for construction services related to on-call and emergency water and sewer utility repairs in an amount up to $1,000,000.00 per contract. The contracts with SEC and Ric-Man provide an initial term of two years, with three additional one-year renewal terms at the option of the City and under the same terms and conditions.
On January 17, 2024, pursuant to Resolution No. R-2024-025, the City Commission authorized the execution of change orders to the contracts with SEC and Ric-Man to increase the contract amounts from $1,000,000.00 to $2,000,000.00 per contract.
On October 1, 2024, pursuant to Resolution No. R-2024-337, the City Commission approved and authorized the appropriate City officials to renew the unit price contracts for construction services related to on-call and emergency water and sewer utility repairs with Southeastern Engineering Contractors.
