Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities desires to purchase Sodium Hydroxide 50% and have it delivered in both full and less than full truckload quantities.
Sodium Hydroxide is used to control the pH in the finished water at the Water Treatment Plant and as well as neutralize hydrogen sulfide odors at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The City of Margate, acting as the lead agency for the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group, awarded Contract No. 2023-006 for the supply and delivery of sodium hydroxide 50% to Univar Solutions USA, Inc. ("Univar") for an initial term of one year from April 19, 2023, to April 18, 2024, with an option to renew for four additional one-year periods.
The Director of the Department of Public Utilities and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that the City Commission approve and authorize the execution of a Blanket Purchase Agreement to Univar for the supply and delivery of sodium hydroxide 50% in an estimated annual amount of up to $720,000.00.
Univar has agreed to extend to the City the same pricing, under the terms and conditions, as set forth in Contract No. 2023-006. The necessary sodium hydroxide will be acquired over an initial period from July 5, 2023, through April 18, 2024, for an estimated annual amount of up to $720,000.00.
