Explanation:
On June 16, 2021, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2021-145 approving and adopting a Bicycle Mobility Plan that identified numerous city-wide bicycle projects.

On March 19, 2024, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) posted a Notice of Funding Opportunity for Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program for two different categories of grants: (1) Planning and design grants and (2) Construction grants.

The Department of Development Services - Engineering, Transportation and Mobility Division has identified and prioritized numerous bicycle improvement projects within the Bicycle Mobility Plan for possible funding that will improve the safety, efficiency, reliability, and connectivity between existing bicycle facilities and public transportation. The projects will also improve the level of service for vehicular traffic, bicyclists, and pedestrians within the City.


Fiscal Impact:
The planning and design phase of the improvements is estimated to cost $2,000,000 and will be completed over a two-year period. The Grant requires the City to commit 20 percent in matching funds over a two- year period.
