Explanation:
On July 30, 2020, Gloria Ortiz (“Claimant”) filed a civil action against the City, for damages arising out of a trip and fall that occurred on March 20, 2019 (Case Number CACE-20-012327). Claimant alleges that she was injured as a result of a trip and fall on a City street. Claimant’s claim is for personal injuries. The City Attorney and Claimant’s attorney have negotiated a settlement in the amount of $50,000.00. If this settlement is approved by the City Commission, the monies will be paid from the City’s self-insurance fund. The City Attorney recommends that the City Commission approve the negotiated settlement.
Fiscal Impact:
Funding for this settlement is available in the City’s Self-Insurance Fund.
