Explanation:
State Road A1A (A1A) is located on a barrier island that separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Intracoastal Waterway and is designated as a hurricane evacuation route. Pursuant to Resolution No. R-2022-061, the City entered into Local Funding Agreements with the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") for funding of the design of four stormwater pump stations located at Franklin Street, Sheridan Street, Van Buren Street, and Bougainvillea Terrace, to address higher tide elevation and daylight flooding, which is a common occurrence that poses risks to vehicles and pedestrians. Recent Stormwater Master Plan findings indicated the need for additional stormwater pump stations between Iris and Daffodil Terraces to address severe flooding, and the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") and the Department of Public Utilities ("Department") desire to address this need.
On October 4, 2023, the CRA Board passed and adopted Resolution No. R-CRA-2023-46 approving funding in an amount up to $421,195.78 for the design of this stormwater pump station, and the evaluation of one additional potential stormwater pump station within the CRA Beach District.
