Explanation:
The City has the responsibility for the continued assessment, renewal, and replacement of the wastewater collection system including 86 lift stations and over 282 miles of sewer gravity and force mains. The infiltration and inflow ("I/I") of rainwater to the sewer system has many adverse consequences. Primary among these are increases in the cost of conveyance and treatment, a decrease in the capacity of the sewer system, an increase in the likelihood of sewage overflows, and regulatory violations. The Department of Public Utilities ("Department") has a long-standing program to reduce I/I to the wastewater collection system. This program includes excavated point repairs and other ameliorative measures to decrease stormwater in the City's sewer collection system, transmission system and the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Department staff prepared bid documents for I/I Program - Excavated Point Repairs project. On April 27, 2023, a Notice of Bid Availability for Bid No IFB-083-23-JJ was electronically advertised on OpenGov in accordance with Section 38.43(A) of the Procurement Code.
