Explanation:
This request is to install 3M vinyl artwork on 15 utility boxes along Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") owned roadways. To achieve this, FDOT requires the City to enter into a Community Aesthetic Feature Agreement ("CAFA").
The utility box wrap designs are selected by the City. The Engineering Division has coordinated with the Office of Communications, Marketing, and Economic Development to obtain artwork that represents the City to be used on the box wraps. These artwork images are subject to Public Art Committee review.
FDOT and the City agree that transportation facilities enhanced by community aesthetic features can be beneficial to the public, result in positive economic development, and increase tourism both locally and throughout the State of Florida.
The Director of Development Services, the City Engineer and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that the City Commission approve and authorize the appropriate City officials to execute a CAFA between the City and FDOT, affirming the City's intent to fund all designs, installation and maintenance costs associated with the public art utility box wrap project along FDOT rights-of-way.
