Body

Staff Recommends:  Approval of the attached Ordinance.

Explanation:

At first reading, the City Commission further amended this Ordinance to sunset five years from its effective date, unless the City Commission, by a 5/7 vote, determines that it is in the City’s best interest to continue.

First Reading:

Chapter 98 of the Code of Ordinances establishes Marine and Waterway Regulations; Boats and Other Vessels.

The Department of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts staff recommend streamlining the approval of private boat dock lease(s) by allowing the City Manager to approve boat dock lease agreement terms and conditions and allow the City Manager or designee authority to execute approvals and renewals by revising Sections 98.050, 98.051 and 98.052 of the Code of Ordinances.

Fiscal Impact:

Approval of this Ordinance will not fiscally impact the City because this ordinance is about approval of the boat dock lease agreement terms and conditions.  The annual license fee associated with maintaining a private boat dock on City property falls under a separate resolution.
