Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

 

 

Explanation:

The Police Department has been authorized to receive grant funds from the Broward County Health Department in the amount of $73,500.00.  The funds will be used for the purchase of an MX908 portable mass spectrometer in order to improve opioid drug surveillance.  The Police Department will share information with the Broward County Health Department to provide for quick identification of emerging drug trends to target prevention activities to the proper populations and locations.

 

Fiscal Impact:

If this Resolution is approved, there is a companion resolution (budget amendment) that will allocate funding in an account to be determined for $73,500.00 to the FY 2022 Operating Budget for Police Grant Fund (113).
