Explanation:
In February of 2019, the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) identified the Dixie Highway corridor as a priority project within the Complete Streets Master Plan ("CSMP"). The limits of the MPO's CSMP project are along Dixie Highway from County Line Road to Sheridan Street. The City of Hollywood, City of Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency, and the City of Hallandale Beach have also identified the Dixie Highway corridor as an important municipal goal for Complete Street conversion.

In May of 2019, the City of Hollywood and the City of Hallandale Beach worked collaboratively on a traffic study for the Dixie Highway corridor and the study indicated that a proposed lane repurposing had no adverse impacts on the roadway segments in the corridor area.

In November of 2019, the Broward County Commission required that additional public engagement activities occur before considering the item for approval. On December 16, 2020, the City of Hallandale Beach City Commission considered the item and the Commission approved moving forward with additional public engagement activities.

The City of Hollywood will need to enter into an agreement with a consultant to provide the public engagement efforts required by Broward County that will be based upon Broward County's municipal-level Community Awareness Plan (CAP) guidelines for lane elimination proposals.
