Explanation:

The Armory Building was built in 1955.  Dowdy Field, adjacent to the Armory Building, is used mostly for youth and adult soccer.  The Department of Parks Recreation and Cultural Arts (PRCA) would like to renovate the building to create an indoor sports facility including basketball, batting cages, soccer goals, and ADA compliant restrooms.

The PRCA would like to apply and receive one to one match grant funding through the State of Florida, Department of State Division of Historical Resources 2022 Special Category Grant Program for these renovations.

Fiscal Impact:

If approved, grant funding in the amount of $500,000 will be appropriated in the FY2023 Operating Budget.

The estimated value of the City’s match is $500,000, which will be funded from the Armory Building Budget.
