Explanation:
Paul Gozaloff filed a civil action in Federal Court against the City of Hollywood, Florida and five City police officers arising out of an incident that allegedly occurred on or about January 27, 2008. The civil action includes claims for false arrest, excessive force, malicious prosecution, perjury, failure to intervene and failure to train supervise.
Subject to the approval of the City Commission, the parties have negotiated a settlement in the amount of $240,000.00. If this settlement is approved by the City Commission, the monies will be paid from the City's self-insurance fund.
The City Attorney recommends that the City Commission approve the negotiated settlement.
