Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

In an effort to reduce the tragic railroad statistics, the Hollywood Police Department is seeking an award of $120,000.00 from the U.S. Department of Transportation, to participate in the Railroad Trespassing education and enforcement program. The goal is to maintain a visible presence, constantly repeat safety messaging, influence the behavior of the community, create a long lasting reduction in the amount of trespassing along the rail-line, and reduce rail-related deaths.

Fiscal Impact:

If approved, there is a companion resolution (budget amendment) that will allocate funding in an account to be determined for $120,000.00 to the FY 2022 Operating Budget of the Police Grant Fund (Fund 113).
