Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.


Explanation:
Section 932.7055 (5)(c)3., Florida Statutes requires each local Law Enforcement agency that acquires at least $15,000.00 pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act to donate no less than 15 percent of such Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds during every fiscal year for the support or operation of drug treatment, drug abuse education, drug prevention and awareness, crime prevention and safe neighborhood programs. The attached Resolution seeks City Commission authorization to donate $75,500.00 to these organizations and programs. During the past several months, many agencies and organizations desiring to receive a donation of Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds have requested an appropriation by submitting an application accompanied by a written certification that the donated funds will be used for an authorized purpose. The selection of the following programs and organizations was made following an exhaustive review:

A Child is Missing, Inc. $2,500.00

"Grapes for Grades" Greater Hollywood Chamber $10,000.00

Hispanic Unity of Florida, Inc. $5,000.00

Hollywood Art & Culture Center, Inc. $5,000.00

Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County, Inc. $12,000.00

Kids in Distress, Inc. $1,000.00

City of Hollywood Police Athletic League $20,000.00

Washington Park Child Care Center, Inc. (Gunzburger Center) $5,000.00

YMCA of Broward County, Florida, Inc. $15,000.00
