Explanation:
International Overdose Awareness Day is observed annually to raise awareness about the impact of drug overdose and to honor those affected. The City of Hollywood recognizes the growing challenge of opioid-related deaths and emphasizes the importance of education, harm reduction, treatment, and mental health support.
This year’s theme, One Big Family: Driven by Hope, highlights community resilience and support. The City of Hollywood is committed to preventing overdose through programs like the Mobile Integrated Health Program and Community Court, and by partnering with organizations to provide vital services to vulnerable populations. The city continues to work toward a future free from stigma, supporting recovery and healing for all.
The proclamation will be accepted by Phyllis Babrove, Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
