Explanation:
The Hollywood Housing Authority (HHA) was established on November 5, 1974, under the authority of Chapter 421, Florida Statutes, to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families within the City of Hollywood.

The HHA Board of Commissioners is composed of five members responsible for setting the policies and overseeing the operations of the HHA. The Board meets regularly to review and approve contracts, budgets, deeds, public housing plans, and other critical documents and decisions that impact the Authority's operations. To ensure effective oversight, the HHA Board retains a contracted attorney and a certified public accounting (CPA) firm to provide specialized legal and financial support.

Appointments to the HHA Board of Commissioners are crucial to maintaining strong leadership and ensuring the HHA's operations are conducted efficiently, transparently, and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

In making appointments, it is important that the Board collectively possesses expertise and experience in the following areas:

* Affordable Housing Policy and Programs: Knowledge of public housing initiatives, Section 8 programs, and other affordable housing strategies that impact residents and funding sources.
* Finance and Budgeting: Experience in financial management, public budgeting, auditing, and fiscal oversight to ensure the proper stewardship of millions of dollars in federal and state housing funds.
* Real Estate Development and Property Management: Understanding of real estate transactions, property maintenance, capital improvements, and asset management as they relate to affordable housing portfolios.
