Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The Police Department plans to apply for $172,400.00 in funding from the Florida Inland Navigation District’s 2026 Waterways Assistance Program (“FIND WAP”). The project, totaling $344,800.00, includes a marine patrol vessel and lifesaving equipment.

The requested marine patrol vessel will support the Marine Units in patrol and enforcement operations on the City’s waterways. Lifesaving equipment includes night-vision devices that will enhance Marine officers' ability to enforce the law by improving visibility during patrols. The primary aim of this project is to enhance officer safety and improve life-saving results.

The FIND WAP requires a 1-to-1 match of $172,400.00 from the grant recipient. The Police Department will allocate Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds for the match if the grant is awarded.

Fiscal Impact:

If awarded, the Grant funding will be appropriated in the FY 2027 Operating Budget of the Police Grant Fund (Fund 113).
