Explanation:
The item proposes the installation of decorative art-wrap coverings on existing traffic signalization/utility cabinets at fifteen (15) locations within the Highland Gardens neighborhood. Funds for the project have been allocated from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
The Highland Gardens Beautification Committee, comprised of residents of the Highland Gardens neighborhood, proposed a number beautification projects for the neighborhood. The memberships of both the Highland Gardens Neighborhood Civic Association and United Neighbors of South Hollywood reviewed the proposed projects and ranked them in order of preference.
The installation of decorative vinyl wraps on traffic signalization/utility cabinets throughout the neighborhood is one of the preferred projects. The Highland Gardens Beautification Committee, along with City staff, reviewed imagery and photos for the project. The wraps will depict historic postcards and nature scenes and will also replicate the existing Highland Gardens neighborhood monument sign design at neighborhood gateway locations.
Quotes were solicited from seven (7) vendors, including one located within the Highland Gardens neighborhood. Three (3) vendors responded to the request for quotes and the lowest quoted cost ranges between $335.25 to $514.38 per cabinet, plus applicable permit fee, for a total amount of approximately $8,000.00.
