Explanation:
Section 2.03 of the City Charter states the Vice Mayor shall serve for a term of one year, and that the Commission shall vote to select a Vice Mayor.
Resolution No. R-2020-172 states the Commission intends, as a general rule, to elect the Commissioner who has continuously held the office of Commissioner the longest without having served as the Vice Mayor.
Resolution No. R-2023-036 provides that the City Commission intends in the event there is a tie amongst the Commissioners with the continuously held office of Commissioner the longest without having served as the Vice Mayor, the Commissioner from the District whose Commissioner has not served as Vice Mayor the longest shall be appointed.
Resolution R-2024-408 appointed Idelma Quintana as Vice Mayor to serve a term of one year, effective December 4, 2024.
A new Vice Mayor must be appointed for a one year term.
Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this Resolution will not fiscally impact the City.
