Explanation:
The City has engaged the law firm of Greenspoon Marder (“Greenspoon”) to provide legal services for land use issues.
Section 38.41(C)(11)(i) of the Procurement Ordinance exempts contracts for professional services from the competitive bid and competitive proposal requirements of the Procurement Ordinance. When professional services are contracted and the estimated annual amount to be paid for those services exceeds $100,000.00, City Commission approval is required.
The fees accrued for various matters handled by Greenspoon are approaching $100,000.00, and the City Attorney estimates that by the end of FY 2026, they will exceed $100,000.00. The City Attorney recommends that the City Commission approve a $175,000.00 increase to the expenditure for a total amount up to $275,000.00 for matters handled by Greenspoon.
