Explanation:
The Department Of Public Utilities (Department) maintains and operates a 59.5 million gallons per day Water Treatment Plant (WTP) that uses three major treatment processes: lime softening ("LS"), membrane softening ("MS"), and reverse osmosis ("RO") to produce potable water to sustain and protect the health and safety of the community.
The existing MS membranes have been operational for 11 years, have reached their useful life span, and require replacement of their Nanofiltration (NF) pressure vessels and membrane elements.
On December 6, 2023, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2023-392, which authorized the appropriate City officials to execute an Authorization to Proceed for Work Order No. B&C 24-03 with Brown & Caldwell (B&C) for engineering services related to the replacement of the existing NF system. B&C completed the design of the project.
