National Arbor Day is celebrated every year in April to recognize all the wonderful contributions trees bring to our daily lives. Some of these contributions include the reduction of erosion, cutting heating and cooling costs, production of oxygen, and providing habitat for wildlife. In honor of Arbor Day 2024, the City of Hollywood will be hosting a tree-planting event at McArthur High School on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. McArthur H.S. participates in the Florida Nursery and Landscape Apprenticeship Program (FNGLA). The program focuses on the fundamentals of horticulture and allows students to develop skills vital for industries like landscaping, irrigation, and horticulture. The students monitor, track, and manage the greenhouse and garden on the campus while having the opportunity to earn income.
The program instructor, Mr. Vincent Newman, will accept the proclamation on behalf of McArthur High School and the Agrisciences program. The Arbor Day 2024 proclamation from the City of Hollywood Florida, will continue to spotlight the achievements of the program for its students.
