Explanation:

On November 2, 2022, via Resolution R-2022-334, the City Commission supported the implementation of a Community Shuttle Program and the establishment of three service routes. The City has elected to subcontract the operation and maintenance of the vehicles associated with the approved routes.

On October 13, 2023, the City was notified by Broward County Transit (“BCT”) that it would fund an additional community shuttle route proposed by the City in western Hollywood.

To implement the Community Shuttle Program or establish an additional community shuttle route, BCT requires that the City hold a public hearing before its governing body prior to establishing the new community shuttle service routes.

Subsequent to the public hearing, BCT and the City will enter into an interlocal Agreement setting forth the requirements for the operation of the shuttle service as well as the funding of the program from the Broward County 2022 and 2023 Transportation Surtax.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this Agreement will be available through Surtax and is contingent on the execution of an Interlocal Agreement between the City and Broward County.
