Explanation:
The Hollywood Beach Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") identified the need to improve the pedestrian street lights in the downtown area located between Johnson Street and Washington Street and along 19th and 20th Avenues that will help to encourage the design, planning and construction of safer, healthier streets and ultimately increase physical activity and the health of neighborhoods.
CRA staff investigated solar and electrical streetlights options for the area in downtown and at the July 3rd meeting both options were presented to the Board and the Board directed staff to proceed with the electrical street light option.
Florida Power and Light Company (“FPL”) provided the electrical street light proposal consisting of 138 light poles with LED fixtures and decorative poles. The proposed agreement is for 10 years with an automatic renewal for an additional five years, which includes a onetime fee of $328,828.38 for constructing the underground conduits and a monthly fee of $5,300.53 which includes the energy costs, poles and fixtures.
As part of the Agreement, FPL will install the poles, fixtures, and underground conduits and shall provide maintenance of the system during the Agreement duration.
