Explanation:
The City of Hollywood's Water Treatment Plant ("WTP") is a 59.5 million gallons per day (MGD) treatment facility that provides high quality water to the businesses and residents of the City. The WTP also serves approximately 300 acres in the Town of Davie, 50 acres in the City of Dania Beach, and 100 acres in the Seminole Tribe of Florida reservation. The WTP also provides wholesale water to Broward County's Water and Wastewater Services Districts 3A and 3B/C. The WTP further provides the City of Dania Beach an emergency connection to maintain its system pressure when needed.

The WTP's primary source of raw water is ground water. Local groundwater quality varies from one well field to another requiring a combination of different water treatment technologies to provide the highest quality potable water at an affordable cost. The WTP uses the relatively inexpensive, traditional water treatment technology of lime softening (LS) as well as advanced membrane softening (MS) and reverse osmosis (RO) technologies to purify raw water. The Lime Softening System at the WTP has been in operation since the 1970's. With appropriate maintenance and rehabilitation this system can continue to treat 22.5 million gallons of water per day (MGD)
