Explanation:

The Broward Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of every law enforcement agency in Broward County, has applied for and has been granted funds under the Justice Assistance Grant (“JAG”) Program funding provided by the U.S. Department of Justice. As the local facilitating law enforcement agency, the Broward Sheriff’s Office is required to distribute JAG Program grant funds to each local law enforcement agency. The distribution amount to each local law enforcement agency is predicated upon the population and crime statistics for each jurisdiction. This funding globally enhances a number of the Police Department’s technology driven efforts.

Fiscal Impact:

If awarded, grant funding in the estimated amount of $34,388.00 will be appropriated in the Operating Budget of the Police Grants Fund (Fund 113) via a future budget amendment.
