SECOND READING:

No changes since first reading.

FIRST READING:

On April 5th, 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 271, which amends s.715.075, F.S., introducing new consumer-protection rules for private motor vehicle parking facilities. This bill mandates specific requirements for signage and invoices, authorizes entities to regulate such signage, and prohibits late fees before a certain period. It also ensures that invoices include dispute and appeal methods, requires a grace period before parking charges are incurred, and prohibits the sale or transfer of personal information by parking facility owners or operators. Additionally, this bill empowers the City of Hollywood, previously unable to regulate private parking lots, to enforce this new state statute, thereby protecting our residents and guests from undesirable private parking practices.

Fiscal Impact:

Approval of this Ordinance will not fiscally impact the City.
